We were the first and still only company to stand behind all of our repairs with a "no bull" 1-year limited warranty. UPS makes deliveries to us in the morning and picks up in the late afternoon, so over 96% of the PlayStation 3 consoles we receive at our publicly accessible service facility in Fort Lauderdale, Florida are repaired and shipped back the same day. Quality, reliability, honesty & best value - that's the true difference between PS3RepairShop.com and our competitors. Fancy sales pitch talk? Review the table below then read the independent customer testimonials and you'll see why PS3RepairShop.com is truly the only choice when it comes to repairing your Sony PlayStation 3 gaming console.
The Sony PlayStation 3 Repair Process In 5 Simple Steps
STEP 1 First you must decide how you're going to get your PlayStation 3 to our Service Facility in South Florida. Here are your three options:
i) You may order our pre-molded shipping box and pre-paid shipping label from here. This is the most simple, worry-free and recommended method because everything you need to get your PlayStation 3 safely to our Service Facility is included. Once your shipping box & label has been ordered, you can expect to receive it on your doorstep within 2 to 5 business days. Many of our customers especially from California and the Pacific Northwest region favor this option because not only is it the safest way to ship their PS3 across the country, it is also far less expensive than if they paid for their own shipping label, packing materials and a suitable box from UPS or FEDEX. Click here to order the pre-molded shipping box.
ii) You may choose to send your PlayStation 3 to us in your own box and supply your own packing materials & shipping label. If this is your preferred method, you must download, print and follow the instructions in this Service Request Form. Adobe Reader is required to view the form. Please note the following: The only advantage of sending your PS3 to us in your own box is it eliminates the 2 to 5 day waiting period for our pre-molded box to arrive. If you still wish to make your own shipping arrangements, please be sure to read and follow our self-ship & packing guidelines and purchase adequate insurance.
iii) If you live in the South Florida area, you are welcome to bring your PS3 console in person to the Service Facility between 10am and 6pm Monday through Saturday. This method is by far the quickest and cheapest way to have your PlayStation 3 repaired, because you will be avoiding all shipping charges and the transit time it takes for it to be shipped to & from the Service Facility.
All repairs are just
$99 (plus $10 return shipping, if applicable). Florida residents are subject to applicable sales tax. If you have any questions about covered repairs, please call 888.214.8625.
STEP 2 Download and print the Service Request Form. Fill out the requested information and send it with your PlayStation 3 console to: RSOL PC, 4554 North University Drive, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33351. Do not send any payment now! Do not send any wires or controllers!
If you are bringing your console in person to the Service Facility,
there's no need for you to complete the Service Request Form - we will fill it
out for you! If you ordered our pre-molded box in Step 1, a blank Service
Request Form will be included in your box.
STEP 3 We begin the actual
repair on your PlayStation 3. If your PlayStation 3 was mailed to us, we will contact you by phone to confirm your console's safe arrival at the
Service Facility and then begin the repair.
STEP 4 We will contact you again after your console has been successfully repaired
to collect payment by major credit card (VISA/MC/AMEX/DISC) or VISA / Mastercard
debit card. Over 96% of the repairs we perform are completed and shipped back
the same day it is received at our Service Facility.
STEP 5 UPS will provide you with a tracking number via email when your console is boxed and ready to ship. Your PS3 will be shipped back to you in the same box we received it in. Local customers may pick up their repaired PlayStation 3 in person and avoid the return shipping charges.
Important information about "YLOD" aka "Yellow Light of Death" / Blinking Red Light
1) How long will it take to repair my PS3? Typical turnaround time is 3 hours from the time it is received and checked in at our Service Facility. Repairs may take longer if your console was previously worked on by you or a third-party repair company.
If you're mailing your console to us then you should add about 2 to 5 business days to allow for the transit time by UPS Ground back to your mailing address. In the rare event that your console needs a component that is temporarily out of stock or requires additional testing we will contact you by email or phone to inform you of the delay.
When your PS3 console arrives at our service facility you can be assured we will treat it in the same manner as we treat our very own consoles. In fact, when you get it back you'll probably find that it is actually in better cosmetic condition than when you sent it to us, thanks in part to the free preventative maintenance procedures we will perform.
When we work on your console we will take every precaution to handle it with with care, use ESD equipment when working on the internals, and perform graceful system shutdowns to preserve the important data on your console's hard drive. To get the repair process started with us, print this form or call 888.214.8625 toll-free.
2) How much will it cost to repair my PS3? We charge a simple flat rate of $99 for the repair of any one issue. If you are not local to our Service Facility in South Florida and need to mail your gaming console to us for repair, a $10 charge will be added to your bill to cover the return shipping costs of sending your gaming console back to you after the repair is complete. Florida residents are subject to 6% sales tax.
If your console arrives at our facility in a disassembled state, a $10 service charge will be added to your bill to cover the costs of securing your console so it will then be entitled to receive warranty coverage from RSOL PC / PS3RepairShop.com. Therefore, please make sure that everything is put back together completely if you were tempted to open it up and tried fixing it yourself.
Please note, if your PS3 is later determined to be non-repairable by RSOL PC, your cost will be $25 to cover bench time plus the shipping & handling costs of returning your console back to you, or you can trade it for a replacement system. To get the repair process started, print this form or call 888.214.8625 toll-free.
3) Will you transfer my game saves that are on the original hard drive? If you would like us to transfer your "game saves" and downloaded content from your original fully functional hard drive to a new 500GB hard drive we will be happy to perform this extra service for you for just $10. Please note this optional service is not necessary if you only wish to preserve your user profile & trophies. Florida residents are subject to 6% sales tax.
Our Service Center is conveniently located for South Florida residents at: RSOL PC: 4554 N. University Drive, Lauderhill, FL 33351 which is about 1 mile south of Commercial Blvd, and about 1 mile north of Oakland Park Blvd in Broward County. Call us at 954.495.4235 (Broward) or 888.214.8625 (Toll-Free) for additional details.
If you're mailing your PS3 console to us please print a completed copy of this form and mail it with your console to our service center by either Fed Ex or UPS. We strongly recommend you do not send us your PS3 by US Mail because there's a higher probability that it will get damaged in transit. Be sure to keep a record of your UPS or FED EX tracking number and don't forget to insure the package because we won't be responsible if it gets lost, stolen or damaged in transit!
5) Can you repair my PS3's Blu-Ray drive? Absolutely! Blu-Ray failures are the most common PS3 repair we perform. To get the repair process started, print this form or call 888.214.8625 toll-free.
Yes! The process is quite simple. Simply print a completed copy of this form and mail it with your console to our service center by either Fed Ex or UPS. Your repair cost will be $99 + $10 for return shipping services back to your address. We strongly recommend you do not send us your PS3 by US Mail. Be sure to keep a record of your UPS or FED EX tracking number and don't forget to insure the package because we won't be responsible if it gets lost, stolen or damaged in transit! Once the repair or upgrade is completed on your PlayStation 3 console, we will call you to collect payment. We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex or Discover). FL residents are subject to 6% sales tax.
7) What happens if you can't fix my PlayStation 3? You can be assured we will use our very best effort to resolve the technical issues you are experiencing with your PlayStation 3 console because that is simply the most profitable course of action for us to take; we make money by fixing things, not by sending them back unrepaired. However, in some cases it may be impossible for us to repair your PlayStation 3. The most common causes are because your console was previously worked on by another company or individual and additional & irreversible damage is now present, and/or because your console needs an entire system board replacement. In these situations we will return your console unrepaired for a fee of $25 to cover the costs of shipping, handling and bench time.
We may be able to accept your non-repairable console as a trade towards a discounted brand new PlayStation 3 console. If you prefer not to incur any additional costs we can safely dispose your non-repairable console free of charge. Any non-repairable console that has been abandoned at our service facility for more than 30-days from the closure of your service ticket will be automatically torn-down and disposed in accordance with any applicable local regulations.
8) How much does the PS3 hard drive upgrade cost? We charge a flat-rate $99 to install a brand new 500GB hard drive into your Sony PlayStation 3 console. This amount includes the cost of the new hard drive and the labor to perform the installation and configuration of the part into the console. All hard drive replacements or upgrades include a three-year manufacturer's limited warranty. FL residents are subject to 6% sales tax.
9) How much warranty do you provide for this PS3 repair service? We provide an unprecedented "no bull" 1-year (365 days) limited warranty on parts & labor for the specific repair we originally performed on your console. For example if we originally fixed a laser problem with your bluray drive, and then a few months later you have another problem with the laser, your repair is covered under our warranty. However, if you're now having a problem with your hard drive, then that issue will not be covered by our warranty.
The warranty includes the cost of one-way shipping in the event that you need to send your console back to us. The full terms and conditions of our Standard 1-Year Limited Warranty Agreement can be downloaded and viewed at www.rsolpc.com/warranty/warranty.pdf. Most of our competitors offer 30 to 90-day warranties. For added piece of mind, we also offer extended warranties up to 3 years for less than $50. Details of these rates can be viewed in this form. Our Hard Drive Upgrade Service automatically includes a 3-year limited manufacturer's warranty on the hard drive component.
10) Do you sell games for the PS3? Yes! By mail order only. You can view our online PS3 software catalog here. In order to minimize delivery times, we ship from multiple Distribution Centers in the USA (located in Atlanta GA, Harrisburg PA, Fresno CA and Chicago IL), so average delivery time to your doorstep is 48 to 72 hours from order placement. We do not stock any games or accessories at the Service Facility, however we can accept advance orders for these items when you drop off your console for repair and the items will be ready for pick-up at the Service Facility by the time you come back to pick up your repaired console. If you are mailing your console to us for repair and would like to place an order for accessories or games, we will include those items with your repaired console when we mail it back to you.
11) Which PS3 models can you repair? We fix the following PS3 model numbers: CECHA01 (60GB), CECHB01 (20GB), CECHE01 (80GB), CECHG01 (40GB), CECHH01 (40GB), CECHK01 (80GB), CECHL01 (80GB), CECHP01 (160GB). To get the process started, print this form or call 888.214.8625 toll-free.
We also perform repair procedures on the newer PlayStation 3 slim models (CECH2001A 120GB & CECH2001B 250GB). Most of the slim models still fall under Sony's manufacturer's warranty so we encourage you to call them first, however if you no longer have your original sales receipt Sony may deny your warranty claim even if it is still less than one year old. If you are denied warranty coverage from Sony, we will be happy to perform the repair for you. Please note that we currently carry a very limited supply of PS3 Slim parts because of the aforementioned reasons, so we may not be able to offer you same-day service on these models.
12) How do I pay for the PS3 repair service? Payment for your repair is not due until we have completed the servicing and testing of your PS3 console. Once your console has been repaired and has passed all diagnostic tests, we will contact you by phone to collect your payment or schedule a mutually convenient time for you to come and pick up your console at our service facility. We accept all major credit cards. If you do not have a credit card, you may purchase a prepaid credit card at your local check cashing store. We do not accept checks or money orders under any circumstances.
13) Can you just sell me the component I need so I can fix my PS3 myself? Unfortunately we no longer sell our components to the general public because customers frequently misdiagnose their PS3's symptoms and/or order incompatible components, or the components are improperly installed. In order to prevent potential customer dissatisfaction in these scenarios, we only sell our components in bulk to resellers. Minimum order size is 25 pieces. All components will ship from our service center located in Fort Lauderdale, FL and lead time is 72 hours before orders are shipped. We do not collect sales tax from Florida resellers who provide us with a copy of their Reseller Sales Tax certificate issued by the State of Florida. Florida Reseller Certificates should be faxed to 954.742.2888.
14) My PS3 has the "YLOD" problem. Can you fix it? What is the "Yellow light of death" or "YLOD"? According to Sony it is the manner in which a PlayStation 3 indicates it has experienced a "general hardware failure". Unfortunately this usually means there's a major component failure on the main system board inside the PlayStation 3, and it needs to be replaced. If your PlayStation 3 has the dreaded "YLOD" (see video above) we recommend you contact Sony directly to purchase their $149 flat-rate "out of warranty" repair service. You may be thinking that $149 is simply too much money to spend on this repair especially when there are third-party companies that claim to repair a "YLOD" PS3 for a fraction of that cost. However, let us explain why Sony's $149 charge is the best all round & most reliable option:
Most third-party companies who claim to resolve "YLOD" consoles will attempt to fix your original system board by using a labor-only process called "reflowing" because they assume the solder under the GPU (RSX chip) is the culprit. They usually charge about $50 to $70 for this service depending on where you take it. It's important to note that no parts are actually replaced during this process, and is the reason why these companies can't offer any meaningful warranty on their work. Some of them may even have videos on their homepage where they compare the repair process to "patching a tire" and admit their fix is only temporary. Sadly, they will still be happy to take your money two or three times before they eventually tell you your PS3 is non-repairable. That's not how we operate. We tell you straight-up that its a waste of your money trying to "patch up" a failing defective component - especially when we are talking about a major component like the system board. It will just be a matter of time before the failure occurs again.
Some of our competitors will disagree with our opinion and will claim their "reflows" can last years because they paid thousands of dollars for a special reflow machine and want your business. So who should you believe? Well, who has the least to gain? The company that has no interest in taking your money for this repair (that would be us), or the company that wants to charge you $50 to $70 for the repair? If you think "reflow" repairs are reliable then you may want to check out these independent real world comments from other YLOD victims here and here. As you will see, every single "reflow" quick repair attempt was ultimately unsuccessful. Some failed within a few months, some within a few hours. Some never worked at all.
"Re-balling" is another procedure that can be used to treat "YLOD", and tends to yield better results than "reflowing" -- as long as the issue is directly related to the RSX chip. Its important to remember though that your original RSX chip is never replaced during this repair process either, so there is always a chance of another failure. The second strike against "re-balling" is the associated cost, which is significantly higher than the quick "reflow" repair. Third-party companies that perform "re-ball repairs" are going to charge you around $150 to remove your RSX chip from the system board so they can apply new solder, then reinstall the original RSX chip. If you ask them to actually replace a failing RSX chip they will add another $150 to the bill for a sub total of $300. Shipping costs are extra. So you're already looking at double what Sony would have charged to repair or replace your PS3, and you're looking at the same cost of a brand new PlayStation 3 currently sells for in the stores.
So what happens if your "YLOD" has absolutely nothing to do with the RSX chip and the problem is actually because of some other chip failure on the system board? If you decided to go with one of these "YLOD" repair guys, the "reflow" and "re-ball" fixes they perform will have absolutely no effect and be a complete waste of time. They will then call you and break the news that your PS3 is "non-repairable" and you may have to pay them a "bench fee" for their time. The worst part of this scenario however is you just lost your one and only chance of having your PlayStation 3 repaired or completely replaced by Sony, and the price for you to get back into a working PS3 is now going to cost you much more than that $149 fee Sony would have charged you from the get go.
No third-party company can reliably resolve the YLOD issue without replacing the defective system board outright, and nobody can do this cheaper than Sony. Not even RSOL PC / PS3RepairShop.com! We give one-year warranties on all the other repairs we perform because we simply replace the defective sub-component outright, but there is no way we can do this for "YLOD" repairs since the only place where you can obtain a replacement system board is through Sony's repair service. Sony will either replace the entire system board in your console, or they will send you an entire replacement console -- as long as you haven't let one of these third-party companies attempt a system board repair.
And contrary to popular belief, as of May 2010, Sony will not send you a lesser console than what you originally had unless you specifically tell them to do so. Even if you have the popular 60GB CECHA01 model with the PS2 backward compatibility, Sony will send you back an equivalent 60GB model for $149 + shipping, or you can opt for the newer 120GB slim model for $119. Your inconvenience would be limited to approximately 2 to 3 weeks of down-time and a loss of game save data. Yes, that can be difficult to live with, but isn't that far more preferable than ultimately losing all your game save data anyway and having to pay over $300 for a used 60GB CECHA01 model (that may have had its own YLOD "reflow" quick repair already performed) from some random guy on Craigslist or eBay, or having to find $299 or $349 + tax to purchase a brand new PS3 Slim? As a side note, you'd be truly astounded if you knew how many people on a daily basis try to sell or trade us their "YLOD-repaired" 60GB models because they just want to be rid of their ticking time-bomb. Unfortunately we only accept un-tampered PlayStation 3 as trades.
The bottom line if you have a "YLOD PS3" is you shouldn't take any chances or waste your money on a gamble - just call Sony toll-free at 800.345.7669 and get it reliably resolved the first time, or use your dead console as a trade towards a heavily discounted new or used console from PS3RepairShop.com.
15) Can you fix my Xbox 360, Wii, PSP, PS2, DS? Unfortunately we only fix Sony PlayStation 3 consoles at this time.
16) Why should I trust RSOL PC to fix my PS3 instead of Company X? There are many good reasons why you should be careful when choosing someone to work on your equipment. There are many dishonest companies out there but there are also some companies that are honest and run a legitimate operation. Its a fact that dishonest companies usually don't stay in business too long because the bad reviews on the internet will catch up with them real fast. Honest and dependable companies are usually around for a long time. RSOL PC has been around since 2003, and you can find a few reviews about our PlayStation 3 repair services posted here.
RSOL PC / PS3RepairShop.com knows that word-of-mouth referrals are the most powerful form of advertising. Its a simple fact that if we take care of you properly you will probably tell someone else about your good experience, and that would lead to a new customer for us. If we don't treat you right, you will certainly tell twice as many people that we should be avoided at all costs, and we would have great difficulty attracting new customers. So you can see its clearly much better for business if we take care of you rather than try to cheat you. We keep our prices simple and affordable, and you'll never be hit with a stack of hidden charges when its time to pay your bill. This philosophy has worked for us for the last 7 years, and with your continued support we expect to be around for many more years to come.
You can be assured that when your console arrives at our service facility we will treat it in the same manner as we treat our very own consoles. When we work on your PS3 we will take every precaution to handle it with with care, use ESD equipment when working on the internals, connect it to Uninterruptible Power Sources, and perform graceful system shutdowns to preserve the important data on your console's hard drive. Take a close look at our competitors' online repair videos and you will see some do not take any of these precautions.
We've also seen that some of our competitors boast in their advertisements and on their web sites about the "hundreds" of PS3's they fix per day, or "thousands per month". Sounds impressive, but we think those claims are a little ambitious because if you were to do the math and add up all their alleged repairs (one competitor alone claimed to fix over 20,000 PS3's last year), then consider the number of repairs that Sony performs at the official service center (which should be higher than everybody else combined because they are Sony, after all), it would seem to indicate the PS3 has a higher failure rate than an Xbox 360. If you believe that, then you must be a 360 Fanboy.
We don't claim to repair "hundreds" of consoles per day because i) we simply don't, ii) we believe the more someone says they do something, the reality is often the complete opposite, and iii) the actual number we do repair is irrelevant, because we know you're only concerned with our ability to repair just one console: yours! As long as it doesn't have a "Yellow Light" or a physically damaged AV or USB port problem - we can handle it!
17) Do you perform the repair in-house or do you ship it out to a third-party like Company X? We perform all repairs in our Service Facility in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Our Service Facility is located at 4554 N. University Drive, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33351. We do not ship your console out to third-party companies to perform the repairs. We do the work ourselves in-house because shipping the console out to a third-party is a time-consuming and costly process for everyone involved.
We actually now give a 1-year warranty instead of our previous 180-day standard warranty as a result of establishing a relationship with a new primary supplier of Sony OEM products. When we say we perform high quality work, we weren't kidding! We do the job right the first time, so everyone's happy and that means more customers for us.
For laser replacements, we use the same top-quality components that were used in the original 60GB (CECHA01) and 20GB (CECHB01) PlayStation 3 models. For the more recent models (2008+) we use high-quality dual-lens optical assemblies.
If manufacturer "A" provides a 1-year warranty on their products, and manufacturer "B" provides only a 90-day warranty on their products, which product would you want to be installed in your PlayStation 3? We install manufacturer "A" products because we know you recognize that manufacturer "A" provides a better quality product than manufacturer "B".
Unfortunately most other companies use the lower quality products from manufacturer "B" simply because it costs them less money. If you have any doubts, just take a look at our competitors' warranties, then ask yourself this question: Why would a PS3 repair company only give a 90-day warranty for a repair if the replacement components they install come with a 1-year warranty from the manufacturer? The reason is because they bought the cheaper & lower quality components that only have a 90-day warranty from the manufacturer.
Beware of companies that claim to offer you a generous extended warranty from a 90-day base warranty. These are artificially-inflated extended warranties to attract new customers. Ask for a copy of their warranty document (if they even have one) so you can see what is and what is not covered, who pays for return shipping, etc. The full terms and conditions of our Standard 1-Year Limited Warranty Agreement can be downloaded and viewed at www.rsolpc.com/warranty/warranty.pdf.
19) Do you sell accessories for the PS3? Absolutely! All accessories for your PS3 can be purchased directly from our web site at http://www.rsolpc.com/ps3.
20) Do you sell refurbished PS3's? Occasionally. Quantities are usually very limited and the popular PS3 60GB models are always the most sought item. To check our current availability of used and refurbished models, call 1.888.214.8625 toll-free or click here.
When you send your PS3 to Sony for a "YLOD" repair service, they are almost certainly going to replace your console with a refurbished unit, so that means you will lose all your game-save data. To avoid this potentially ugly scenario, you should frequently back up your data when your console is fully functional rather than start worrying about your data when a disaster has already happened and your options are severely limited.
Its very understandable to be concerned about packing up and mailing your PS3 half way across the country to a company you've never heard about or dealt with before. We have a few reviews posted here, so take them for what they're worth. Whoever you ultimately choose to fix your console, just make sure you take all necessary precautions before boxing it up and mailing it away. Use the same rationale that you would when deciding which website you can trust with your credit card. Research the company, obtain addresses and phone numbers, get a contact name, insist on tracking numbers. If during your research you uncover something that doesn't seem quite right, don't send it!
If you're local to RSOL PC's service facility, you're welcome to drop in and pay us a personal visit. If you're half way across the country, use the internet and research us. Most of the information we suggested you obtain is right here on our web site. Yes, you will get your console back if you send it to RSOL PC; when all is said and done, getting paid to repair your console is worth a lot more to us than trying to steal your broken console -- and we're not just talking about the $99 fee we will charge for your repair! We know a satisfied customer will always refer their friends and family to a company they had a positive experience with. So to us, you're worth much more than a single $99 repair fee.
23) How much does it cost to mail my console to you? The cost of shipping your console to our service facility in 33351 varies. The weight of your package is going to be about 10 to 13 lbs and if you choose to send it by FEDEX or UPS ground you will be looking at a range of $10 to $25. The cost of packing materials will be additional. A cheaper alternative is to order our worry-free shipping solution for $24.99 which includes a pre-molded box, instructions and a one-way shipping label to your PS3 back to our service facility. We prefer you do not send your PS3 to us by US Mail because they always arrive very late in the day and sometimes their packages arrive in pretty bad shape. We have received a few damaged packages from customers in the past and coincidentally or not, they all arrived via USPS, and did not include suitable packing material. Here are our guidelines for shipping and preparing your PlayStation 3 for transit.
The only advantage of sending your PS3 to us in your own box is it eliminates the 2 to 5 day waiting period for our pre-molded box & pre-paid label to arrive. If you're sure using your own box & packing materials is the way you want to go, it is important that full protection is provided against vibration and impacts during transit to & from our Service Facility. The worst enemy to your PS3 during transit is vibration and impacts. So as a guideline, make sure your box is at least 7" tall, and your PS3 is completely bubble-wrapped. A perfect box size would be 17" x 17" x 8". Do not send your PS3 in its original retail box unless you are placing that box inside a larger outer box. Do not use T-shirts as a substitute for bubble-wrap. Do not rely on newspaper or Styrofoam as cushioning material, and absolutely do not use inflated air-bags because they always, always, always arrive deflated due to the relatively heavy weight of the PS3; use packing peanuts instead, and make sure a layer of the packing peanuts are placed beneath, around and above the bubble-wrapped PS3. Remember, your PS3 is a very sensitive piece of electronic equipment, so don't let it get destroyed in transit because a suitable shipping box and appropriate packing materials were not used. We've seen it before, and believe us its no fun breaking the news to a customer that their system now has a "yellow light" (requiring a repair process that we do not perform) or is physically destroyed because it wasn't packed properly!
"Reflowing" is a procedure that is used to temporarily fix a "Yellow Light Of Death" issue. Essentially what this means is that intense heat is blasted at a particular area on your PlayStation 3's system board in the hope that the loose solder connections inside and around the GPU chip will be fixed. Most companies that claim to fix the YLOD problem by "reflowing" simply take a hairdryer-looking device called a heat-gun and wave it in a circular motion a few dozen times over your PlayStation 3's system board. Some companies use a professional device that costs approximately $5000 which may seem impressive, but it does essentially the same job. In many cases both procedures can get your PS3 back up and running for a short while. However the flaw with this "repair" procedure is that no parts ever get replaced, so you're still stuck with the original components that have already experienced a major failure, and you can absolutely count on it failing again a short while later. The only true way to resolve the problem is to replace the damaged component outright, not patch it up "like a tire". That's where Sony's $149 "flat-rate" repair service becomes a bargain, and is your best solution unless you feel you can do the "reflow" procedure yourself and for free.
25) Will you charge me sales tax? We only collect sales tax from Florida residents. Be on the lookout for other companies that collect sales tax from your state when they're not authorized to do so.
26) When do I pay for the repair? Payment is not due until we have completed the repair and testing of your PlayStation 3 console. We will contact you by phone to collect the payment when it's due, not before. If we cannot reach you by phone, we will invoice you by email, and your payment can be made at your convenience through Google Checkout. If payment is collected before 3pm EST, your item will be immediately released to UPS, a tracking number will be generated and emailed to you, and you will have your working console back about 1 to 5 business days later.
27) Ok you convinced me. I want you to repair my PS3. What is the next step? The next step is for you to follow these simple instructions. Do not send any payment with your console! We'll ask you for that when we're ready to ship it back to you.
28) I called you before 6pm and nobody is picking up. What's the deal with that? The most likely reason is that we are with another client. Tip #1: Calling 8 times in a row will not get you to a live person any sooner than leaving a voicemail on the first call. The second reason is that we may be closed because we are in the Eastern Time zone and officially close at 6pm. Tip #2: Even if it is past 6pm EST, you are still encouraged to call because we're usually still in the office for several more hours finishing up current repairs. Regardless of the reasons, if you do encounter our voicemail system simply introduce yourself to it and leave a short message with a return phone number. Someone will call you back as soon as humanly possible, guaranteed! Its not uncommon for us to return messages outside our official business hours, so go ahead and call us right now at 888.214.8625.
29) What do I need to put in the box when I ship my console to you? The only advantage of sending your PS3 to us in your own box is it eliminates the 2 to 5 day waiting period for our pre-molded box to arrive.
All you need to include in the box is your PlayStation 3 console and a copy of the completed Service Request Form. That's it! Do not send any money and do not send any controllers, wires, games or Blu-ray movie discs because we have those items here at our service facility. When its time for us to ship your console back to you after the repair, we will re-use the same box and packing material that you used to send us the console in the first place. Remember, if any damage occurs to your package in transit to or from the service facility, it is your responsibility, because it's your box, not ours!
