As
much as we love our computers there are times when we feel like throwing it out
of the window because we just can't get it to co-operate. Sometimes it's because
we can't get on the internet even though it was working perfectly fine
yesterday. Other times it may be because of a strange cryptic error message in
the middle of your screen. What do you when this happens?
Most people will ignore the problem until it gets to a point where the machine is no longer usable. Unfortunately when that happens your choices for a resolution are quite limited. When it all gets too much we bite the bullet and call Tech Support only to be told that your only option is to reinstall Windows. Now unless you've been periodically backing up your data, performing a clean installation of Windows will mean that all those pictures and emails that you've been saving to your hard drive over the last few years will be lost! What's even worse is being told by the friendly Tech Support agent that you need to reload Windows but he can't help you do it because your computer is infected by Spyware & Viruses! At that point he refers you to a high-cost fee-based support line, and you'll likely get angry and demand to speak to his supervisor, who will in turn explain to you that viruses & spyware removal is not covered under the terms of your warranty. Whether you accept the supervisor's explanation or not, you still have a problem that needs to be resolved, and you can't help but wonder if you had addressed the initial problem when you discovered it months ago, maybe you wouldn't be having such a bad day today? The best tip I can give you is PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE.
